Long Island

From Monday 10th June onwards, our band of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight feature are Long Island. Bright indie production, punchy pop guitars and hook-laden heartfelt lyrics carve a sound unique to the four-piece band, who were initially formed as part of a university project. Consisting of vocalist Rhiannon Stephenson, guitarist and producer Cameron Connor, bassist Jack, and drummer Jan Van Beem, the band embarked on crafting a world that explored their love of indie pop.

The band have been championed by many national and regional radio stations, played sold out gigs of their own, and this year will be supporting the likes of Corella, The Royston Club and Andrew Cushin. Long Island are quickly gathering momentum towards a dedicated and loyal fanbase around the north. The band are inspired by the likes of PVRIS and Fickle Friends, and their unrelenting live sets will be sure to get you dancing and screaming along to every word.

Their nine-track debut album "Infatuation's A Nightmare" was released in January 2023, and further tracks including "not fair", and "homewrecker" quickly followed. This year marks an important year for the band, with plenty of upcoming singles and plans in place for a larger project which is expected towards the end of the year.

Long Island will be played on every weekday show on Tameside Radio between 6am and 7pm all week. The band also joined the team on The Dave Sweetmore Show on Monday 3rd June, you can listen again via the OnDemand section of this website.
