Rick Holden

From Monday 17th June onwards, our artist of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight feature is Rick Holden. Since starting the feature over 18 months ago, we've featured over 70 bands and artists from most genres of music, but Rick will be our first who is part of the local dance music scene.

Aged 46 and from Droylsden, Rick first started composing and writing music in the early 1990's, but it was last year, in May 2023, when he released 'Now I'm Free', his first commercial track. Since then, he's released 12 more tracks on commercial streaming platforms ranging from mainstream Eurodance to vocal trance and hardstyle. He has also collaborated on four of those tracks with Brazilian vocalist Junior Paes, who Rick met through online vocal sharing sites. His latest single is the happy rave banger ‘Back to 1994’, which was released on May 10th.

His next release, on June 21st, is a commercial club track, ‘Way You Love Me’. Rick’s music has been featured on Eurodance internet music stations and has been played by DJs on Manchester’s Canal Street. He's influenced by classic Eurodance artists such as Cappella and Sash!, as well as major hard dance acts such as Scooter and Harris & Ford. He writes the type of music that he enjoys listening to, and hopes others enjoy listening too.

Rick plans to continue producing and releasing uplifting music that people can enjoy and dance to, growing his fanbase and exposure along the way. We'll be featuring his music will be on every weekday show on Tameside Radio between 6am and 7pm all of the week starting June 17th.. Rick also joined the team on The Dave Sweetmore Show on Monday 10th June, you can listen again via the OnDemand section of this website.
