Fast Internet Not Offered In Village

A couple say they are not getting a fast internet connection being offered to people in their village because they live beside a railway line.

Government-appointed contractor Fibrus will not connect a cable across the line to Iona and Ricardo's home in Crosby, Cumbria, and they are not eligible for help with a satellite connection.

The government said it is reviewing the situation with Fibrus, but which properties to connect is ultimately a decision for the suppliers.

Fibrus said the property was "not currently within the scope" of the project to provide high-quality broadband to the village.

Ticketmaster Hack

Ticketmaster customers in North America have been sent emails warning them to take action after the company was hacked in May.

Emails were sent overnight to Canadian customers, urging them to “be vigilant and take steps to protect against identity theft and fraud."

The company has not commented on the notification process - however similar emails have reportedly been sent to victims in the US and Mexico.

The personal details of 560 million Ticketmaster customers worldwide were stolen in the hack - with cyber criminals then attempting to sell that information online.

Sabrina Carpenter Broken UK Chart Records

Sabrina Carpenter, the US singer behind two of this summer's biggest songs, has broken a UK chart record, according to the Official Charts Company.

The Pennsylvania-born star has become the first female artist to hold both the number one and number two positions on the singles chart for three consecutive weeks.

Please Please Please remained in the top spot on this week's chart, while her previous single Espresso held on at number two.

The Beatles achieved the same feat in the 1960s, scoring the chart double on two separate occasions.

🛡️ Security Corner 🛡️

The National Cyber Security Centre – a part of GCHQ – is aware that a cyber criminal group has published data which it claims belongs to Synnovis, a provider of pathology services to the NHS.

This follows a ransomware incident which Synnovis fell victim to earlier this month (3 June).

Investigations are ongoing, led by partners, to determine whether the published data was extracted from Synnovis, and if so whether the contents relate to NHS patients.

The NCSC has published guidance to help people protect themselves from the impacts of data breaches.
