Cyber Attack On Councils Across Greater Manchester
A cyber attack on councils across Greater Manchester has left thousands of residents vulnerable to a phishing scam.
The attack, which initially hit one borough last week and spread over the weekend, on software company Locata downed the housing websites for Manchester, Salford and Bolton councils.
It has also led to thousands of users being sent a phishing email asking them to "activate your tenancy options" and hand over personal data.
Locata, which provides housing software for councils across the country, has apologised for the disruption.

Mobile Phone Bans In Scottish Schools
Headteachers will be given Scottish government backing to introduce mobile phone bans in schools.
Under new guidance pupils could be required to hand over devices before classes or be banned from using them on school trips as part of efforts to crack down on disruptions such as distracting notifications or filming instances of bullying.
However, ministers said consideration should be given to pupils who have good reasons to have a phone. Examples would include if they are a carer, have medical conditions or have additional support needs.
