About the Roles: 

 

Sub Editor

Role Statement

As Sub Editor, you will play a critical role in shaping the editorial output of Not Really Here Media, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to house style across print and digital platforms. You will work closely with reporters, designers, and editors to refine content for publication, balancing the demands of multi-platform publishing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proofread and edit content for newspapers, digital platforms, and social media.
  • Ensure all content aligns with NRHG’s editorial standards for accuracy, balance, and independence.
  • Write compelling headlines, captions, and teasers for various platforms.
  • Collaborate with the editorial team to plan and prioritise stories for publication.
  • Manage workflow to meet tight deadlines for print and online output.
  • Adapt print content for digital platforms, ensuring SEO optimization.
  • Monitor engagement metrics and audience feedback to refine content strategy.

KPIs:

  • Zero errors in published content (spelling, grammar, and factual inaccuracies).
  • Meeting 100% of editorial deadlines for print and digital platforms.
  • Successful adaptation of at least 80% of print stories to digital platforms with SEO optimisation.
  • Consistent adherence to house style across all content.
  • Increase digital engagement by 15% through improved headlines and teasers

Community Reporter

Role Statement

As a Community Reporter, you will be the voice of your local area, sourcing, creating, and delivering hyper-local stories that resonate with our readers and listeners. Your role will span print, digital, and social platforms, emphasising audience engagement and community trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and write hyper-local news stories relevant to the communities served by NRHG.
  • Conduct interviews and build relationships with local contacts, including community leaders, businesses, and residents.
  • Capture high-quality multimedia content, including photos and videos, to complement stories.
  • Maintain an active presence on social media, engaging with audiences and promoting content.
  • Support community-driven initiatives, such as user-generated content and local contributor programs.

KPIs:

  • Publish a minimum of 10 quality stories per week across platforms.
  • Achieve 20% growth in digital engagement (likes, shares, comments) for community stories within six months.
  • Maintain a diverse range of stories that reflect all aspects of community life.
  • Develop and sustain at least 50 active community contacts within six months.
  • Increase multimedia content output by 30% over a year
