An Ashton shopping centre has removed its Santa post box after vandalism.
Ladysmith Shopping Centre st up the special post box to allow youngsters to send their Christmas list and messages to Father Christmas.
And if they included email address on the letter posted through the bright red 'North Pole box', they would receive a magical reply from Santa himself.
However, with just over a week to go before Christmas Day, shopping centre bosses have been forced to take down the box after it was targeted by vandals.
A spokesman said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the removal of our North Pole postbox from the centre due to vandalism.
"Unfortunately, the box is no longer safe to keep in place.
"As a result, we will no longer be able to accept Letters to Santa."
The news of the damage, announced on the centre's Facebook page, sparked anger from shoppers.
One said: "It's coming to something when you can't even have something to give kids a bit of joy because mindless vandals can't leave it alone.
"The thing is, they won't even feel bad for it, they'll just think it's funny."
Another added: "It's disgusting behaviour. Absolutely disgusting."
