Old Glossop will once again be transformed into a festive wonderland!

Old Glossop will once again be transformed into a festive wonderland as the much anticipated Old Glossop Christmas Market returns on Sunday, 1st December 2024, from 12:30 pm to 5 pm.

Visitors can look forward to a seasonal experience, from the festive sounds of carol singing around the Christmas tree at the Old Cross to the magic of Father Christmas arriving on his sleigh, courtesy of Glossop Mountain Rescue. Janet Bingham, of the Old Glossop Residents Association, says, “We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors. With 32 stalls selling traditional crafts, handmade Christmas gifts, local produce, mulled wine, and hot food – there’s something for everyone!”

Entertainment will include performances by school children from All Saints School, Dark Peak Music, and the Glossop Choral Society. Visitors can also enjoy performances from The Fab Choir and The Milltown Cloggies, creating a festive atmosphere to kick off the holiday season.

Local pubs and Shepley’s, the vegetarian café, will be offering seasonal food and drinks, while Glossop Parish Church will open its doors for refreshments. The church bells will ring as a special tribute to open the market. “We’re grateful to our local councillors and businesses for their support,” Janet added.

The event is organised by the Old Glossop Residents Association (OGRA), with proceeds supporting the community, including Glossop Mountain Rescue, older residents, Scouts, and local environmental projects. Entry to the event is set at a penny to meet licensing requirements.

Please note that Church Street South will be closed to traffic between 8:30 am and 6 pm on the day of the event.
