Glossop police have put a dispersal order in place in Glossop town centre after reports of anti-social behaviour in the area.
The Section 34 order made under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 will begin at 4pm on Saturday and will be in operation until midnight.
Dispersal orders mean local police officers have the powers to ask people to leave an area, or part of an area if they are committing anti-social behaviour or if it's believed they may, or are likely to, cause a nuisance to someone else.
Anybody committing an offence who refuse this order can be arrested and fined up to £2,500 and/or receive a three-month prison sentence.
The Glossop Safer Neighbourhood Team say they hope there are no issues and members of the public can enjoy their weekend. This has been put in place to help ensure this happens.
Sergeant Hayley Repton, of the Glossop Safer Neighbourhood policing team, said: “The dispersal order gives us additional powers to deal with anti-social behaviour proactively, so we can move on any individuals we believe may be likely to cause trouble rather than waiting for it to happen.
“It isn’t about making the event a no-go area for all young people, just those who are not behaving sensibly, causing damage and distress for other local residents. We simply cannot tolerate anti-social and nuisance behaviour.”
