Tameside College has opened a brand new centre for automotive students at its Beaufort Road campus, to keep up with the changes in the industry and improve the college’s facilities.
The new £11.5m project, which was completed in August this year, has opened to students for the first time.
The centre is equipped with the latest technology, including a state of the art paint spraying booth, paint mixing room and machine, MOT testing station, hybrid and electric vehicle trainer, wheel alignment kit and brake testing station.
The building, which was constructed with partial funding from the Department for Education, offers students a teaching environment to learn new ‘green’ skills for the next generation of transport.
The opening of the Automotive Centre sees yet another milestone in the college’s plan to become one of the leading training facilities in the North West and beyond.
In recent years, the college has developed its estate significantly with the building of the Advanced Technologies Centre, Construction Skills Centre, Animal Management Centre, health and social care suite and ‘iHub’ virtual reality learning space.
Jackie Moores, principal and CEO at Tameside College, said: “We are delighted as a college to have opened yet another brilliant facility for our students. The college is committed to providing the highest quality training for students and the Automotive Centre will only strengthen this. I am thrilled to see the completed project and eagerly anticipate welcoming parents and young people to the centre for the first time, during our upcoming open events."
