Glossop green camapigners were out in Norfolk Square on Saturday to gather support for their Warm Homes Campaign, and asking shoppers to sign postcards to be sent to Keir Starmer.
"The cards ask the Prime Minister to come up with a bold plan to cut carbon emissions," said Peter Allen on behalf of the group.
"Insulating homes would be an important part of that but the Government also needs to urgently invest in public transport and more green energy. There is a legal obligation for the Government to make these plans by May, following a Friends of the Earth Court case last year."
Green New Deal Co-ordinator Linda Walker adde:"'Recent wildfires, floods and storms show climate change is real and getting more serious every yea.
"We don't have to choose between improving the standard of living for struggling families or tackling the climate crisis.. We can do both, but we need to make the super rich and the big polluting companies help pay for it."
A scarf on display carried messages of support about Warm Homes from Glossop Fair Trade Group, Sustainable Hayfield, Transition New Mills, Hope Valley Climate Action, Transition Buxton, Glossop Labour Club, High Peak Green Party, High Peak Unite Community, Central Methodist Church, Glossop Parish Church, Dark Peak Books and George Street Community Bookshop.
Linda will be taking it to London next week to take part in a Friends of the Earth event outside Parliament.
