After a year of fundraising Puddle Ducks Greater Manchester is celebrating with the installation of a defibrillator at their swim school.

Their fundraising efforts included a Christmas event which raised £600 towards the lifesaving equipment.

The defibrillator is located on the exterior of the swim school’s Aqua Nurture building on Knott Lane.

A defibrillator is a device that gives a jolt of energy to the heart, this helps get the heart beating again when someone is in cardiac arrest and their heart has stopped. They require no training to use.

Suzanne Horton, co-owner of Puddle Ducks Greater Manchester said: “we’re delighted that we are able to install a defibrillator at Aqua Nurture that the whole community can benefit from. Prompt use of a defibrillator can mean the difference between life and death and until now the closest public access defibrillator has been a 5-minute uphill walk for local residents.

“We hope it will never be needed by the local community as well as our own customers, but they now have the comfort of knowing there is a defibrillator close by which is accessible at any time of the day or night.”
