Mayor's ball will have a touch of the Emerald Isle

A touch of the Emerald Isle is on its way Tameside for the Civic Mayor’s ball which takes place at Dukinfield Town Hall on Saturday, March 15.

Although Cllr Betty Affleck has spent most of her life in Hyde, she was born in Dublin and wants to celebrate her chosen charities and raise money for them using the music, dance and traditions of her birthplace.

The ball promises to be a night of good food, good entertainment and good craic, with a real ceilidh vibe.

The Civic Mayor said: “If anyone can rival the Irish for having a great night it’s the people of Tameside. They’re both warm, welcoming and love a good time.

“I hope we can pack the Jubilee Hall because I’m sure it’s going to be a wonderful night. We’re going to support some very good causes that are very close to my heart and which do such a vital job within the community.”

The evening starts with a drinks reception at 6.30, followed by the formal three-course dinner at 7. Tickets are £50 each. Dress is black tie or evening dress. There will also be a raffle and a charity auction.

To make a reservation call 0161 342 3087 or email mayorsoffice@tameside.gov.uk

The Civic Mayor’s charity appeal fund comprises Friends of Tameside Young Carers; The Shed, which works with men who would otherwise be isolated; and East Manchester Community Boat Project based at Portland Basin, Ashton. The ball is supported by the Robertson Group.
