New McDonald’s drive-thru could be built in Hyde

A new drive-thru McDonald’s could be built in to Hyde. Plans have been submitted to Tameside council.

The fast-food giant announced proposals for a new restaurant in the area in August. Blueprints for Grafton Street site have now been tabled.

The new site, if approved, wouldl be built between the M67 and Clark Way, where the Viceroy Indian restaurant currently sits.

Currently, the only McDonald’s restaurant in Hyde area is in Mottram. The US fast-food giant. Bosses say the plan would bring around 120 new jobs to the area.

Papers read: “We are excited to be bringing forward proposals for a new McDonald’s drive-thru restaurant off Grafton Street in Hyde.

“The creation of a new drive-thru restaurant would also deliver a range of benefits, including significant investment into the local economy and the creation of approximately 120 new jobs, in a range of full and part-time positions.

“We recognise that whilst the site is part of a wider commercial area, there are residential properties nearby. We take our responsibility to our neighbours very seriously and have embedded a range of measures in our emerging proposals to protect the amenity of our neighbours.”

Landscaping and new tree planting is also in the plans, as well as road access upgrades and three daily on-site litter picks.
