New Mills punk band Blitz's first album back in the racks

A New Mills punk band's legendary first album is to be made available on vinyl once more.

Voice of a Generation was originally released in 1982 by High Peak punks Blitz and shot to the top of the Independent charts.

The album is described as: "Made up by two punks and two skinheads, with a lot to say about violence and football."

Now the album is due to be reissued next month by Rome-based Radiation Records.

Blitz formed in 1980 and released several singles and EPs as well as three albums.

They were quickly embraced by the UK82 punk scene but faced controversy when they were also adopted into the Oi music scene by skinheads.

The original Blitz line-up consisted of Carl Fisher (vocals), Charlie Howe (percussion), Nidge Miller (guitar), and Neil "Mackie" McLennan (bass) and built up a local following before the release of their first release, the All Out Attack EP in 1982.

One early fan was music journalist Garry Bushell who included the band on the Carry on Oi compilation.

However, the group later abandoned their skinhead connections and produced a post punk influenced second album.
