Tameside's Strictly contestant Shayne Ward has been named as the overall favourite to emerge victorious in the hit BBC show.
Shayne will appear on Strictly Come Dancing, which starts on Saturday, alongside star such as Toyah Wilcox and Pete Wicks.
And the former pop star turned actor and Coronation Street star is 7/2 favourite to win, according to the bookies.
Actor and '80s pop singer Toyah is predicted to collect the wooden spoon and be the first dancer to be voted off the show.
Thirty-nine-year-old Shayne, who was born in Hattersley and attended Arundale Primary School in Mottram, before his family moved away when he was 10, said: "I'm no stranger to live TV, but dancing Latin and Ballroom in front of millions is a whole new level.
"No promises on my dancing ability, but I will give it my best shot!"
He shot to fame when he was victorious in the second series of the X Factor.
His debut single, That's My Goal, was released after his 2005 win and was the Christmas number one, selling more than 313,000 copies in its first day of sales and making it the third fastest selling single of all time in the UK.
After releasing three albums, he starred as Aidan Connor in Coronation Street between 2015 and 2018.
