A Tameside theatre group has received top honours.
Sparks Dramatic Society, based in Ashton and performing at Hyde Festival Theatre, was thrilled to receive 16 nominations across 10 categories for their two pantomimes, Rumpelstiltskin and The Blow Queen – The Adult Panto, at this year’s NODA District 1 Awards. The prestigious awards at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel in Manchester, saw 31 theatre societies from across Manchester, Macclesfield, Stockport, Altrincham, Glossop, Salford, and Prestwich come together to celebrate the best in amateur theatre.
Sparks Dramatic Society’s hard work and talent were recognised as they went on to win three awards:
Best Pantomime Villain – Adam Carter for his portrayal of the titular character in Rumpelstiltskin.
Best Pantomime Dame – Tony Scott George for his performance as Dame Fonda Dix in The Blow Queen – The Adult Panto.
Best Pantomime – The Blow Queen – The Adult Pantomime.
A spokesman said: “We are absolutely delighted with these wins! To be nominated in so many categories was an honour in itself, but to take home three awards is incredible. It’s a testament to the hard work, creativity, and passion of everyone involved in our productions.”
