Whaley Bridge is gearing up for this year’s Wharf Weekend at the Transhipment Warehouse and Canal Basin.
Now in its fourth year, it began as a celebration of the town’s community spirit after residents clubbed together following the near disaster when Toddbrook Reservoir’s dam was close to collapse in August 2019.
Thousands of people will flock to the event, which takes place over Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm.
It will feature live entertainment for all ages including music, a range of food stalls, face painting, art and literature activities and much more.
As well as the festivities, organisers are also asking for people to bring along donations for the Whaley Bridge Food Bank, which ran out of teabags and milk this past week.
They are particularly looking for pasta, rice, noodles, cereal, tinned potatoes, tinned meat, tinned fruit, rice pudding, custard, toilet roll and toiletries.
