Dave Sweetmore - 1st August

Since bursting onto the local music scene with their catchy rock songs, unique stage presence, and infectious humour, The Sprats have quickly become a band who surely have to be on the verge of the next step up in the world of new music. It's a real buzz to see that at every gig or festival they play at, large or small, they gain a whole new army of fans each time without fail.

Consisting of Bradley Ellor (vocals/Frontman) Alex Mcardle (lead guitar) Connor Watson-Reid (keyboard and synth) and Jak Stansfield (drums), the band formed in 2020, and by regularly jamming together a sound and style was created, and The Sprats were formed. Although influended by bands such as Nothing But Thieves, Royal Blood and Kasabian, once you’ve heard their music, they only really sound like one band, and that is The Sprats.

They are a loveable gang of lads who all look, sound, and interact like they belong in a band together, and their stage presence, musical sound, and first class, on and off, stage banter make them one of the most loved bands on the scene. Since forming The Sprats have supported bands such as The Fratellis and The Bluetones, played at numerous gigs in their own right, including at iconic venues such as Manchester Academy and The Deaf Institute, and been a highlight of many festivals including Rochdale's Feel Good Festival and Bury's Ferringofest.

They have appeared as band of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight feature, and were also a highlight of our first Local Music Spotlight Live night at Whittles Live Music Venue in Oldham. Songs released so far include ‘Why Would I With You’, ‘Let’s Sail’, ‘Mr Big Man’, 'Craze', and 'Superwaves', and they recently released latest single 'Feasting Time', and describing themselves as 'The Hungriest Band In The World' in a recent interview with Pete Rooney, The Sprats really are just what the music world needs.

They are a force to be reckoned with live, and in their lively shows, alongside all original material, they have become known for throwing one unexpected cover version in which always blows the roof off any venue. The Sprats can be found on all usual social media platforms, and their music is availble on all streaming sites. Latest single 'Feasting Time' is available now, and new single 'Obsession' is due to be released soon. I'd highly recommend giving them a follow, checking them out, and watching them play live. They are a band you will never forget, and will quite possibly become your new favourite band. Up The Sprats.

Pauline Town MBE is a Tameside hero and a legend. As landlady of The Station Hotel in Ashton, she has made the respected British pub much more than that, it's also a hub for the homeless, victims of domestic abuse, families in need, and those facing poverty in this area.

Its three years since Stereophonics last toured, and last week the band announced their biggest ever UK and Ireland stadium tour which will take place in 2025.

When we started our Local music Spotlight feature on Tameside Radio and across the Not Really Here Group media outlets back in January 2023, I knew what an important feature it would be for local bands and artists, but I don't think anybody could have predicted just how successful it has been.

Two days before Oasis's debut album 'Definitely Maybe' celebrated its 30th anniversary, the news broke that 15 years since splitting up, Liam and Noel Gallagher would be getting the band back together next year. If you had asked me a few years ago if i would like them to get back together, I probably would have said no, leave it in the history books just as The Beatles and The Jam did
