Dave Sweetmore - 5th September

Rock n Roll Star, National Treasure, Musical Icon, Manchester legend, and TV hero Shaun Ryder next week begins a huge UK theatre tour which runs until May 2025, telling stories and tales of his life as one of music's most iconic and wildest frontmen

He'll be telling stories of his life, his times with Happy Mondays and Black Grape, and about his time on many TV shows he has appeared on, including 'Gogglebox' and 'I'm a celebrity get me out of here'.

There will be conversations about the drug fuelled 'Madchester' days in which he way a key figure, and will talk and reminisce about a lifestyle most could only dream of. The highly anticipated tour is called 'Happy Mondays and Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays' and coincides with the release of his book which has the same name.

At 62, Shaun William George Ryder has lived the music lifestyle to excess, more than most, and the tour will see him telling tales from growing up in Little Hulton to today, where he remains one of the busiest, and most popular characters in rock n roll. The Theatre tour begins on September 12th at Lytham St Annes' Lowther Pavillion, and runs until May 4th, ending at Nantwich Football Club.

It's a huge 80 date tour, which will also see a section of the show open to questions from fans. His new book will also be available on the night and meet and greet tickets are available at each venue. I will be hosting the 2024 dates at Lytham, Halifax, Altrincham, Stockport, Chesterfield, Ilkley, St Helens, Forfar, Inverness, Greencok, Stirling, Airdrie, Whitley Bay, Billingham, Scunthorpe, Barnsley, Leeds, Stamford, Millom and Glusburn, and I can't wait to hear many tales from the frontman of two of Manchester's best ever bands. Shaun Ryder's Happy Mondays and Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays tour is one not to be missed.

My Tameside Radio show will be covered on these days by weekend early breakfast presenter Jack Ward. For a full list of all Shaun Ryder tour dates, including links to buy tickets at each venue, visit www.awaywithmedia.com. Hope to see you there!

  • Oasis show is a fitting tribute

With 2025 already in the history books as the year Oasis make their long-awaited reunion, it's fitting that the first ever theatre show telling the story of the rise of the legendary Manchester band through their songs also debuted three days into the New Year.

Pauline Town MBE is a Tameside hero and a legend. As landlady of The Station Hotel in Ashton, she has made the respected British pub much more than that, it's also a hub for the homeless, victims of domestic abuse, families in need, and those facing poverty in this area.

Its three years since Stereophonics last toured, and last week the band announced their biggest ever UK and Ireland stadium tour which will take place in 2025.

When we started our Local music Spotlight feature on Tameside Radio and across the Not Really Here Group media outlets back in January 2023, I knew what an important feature it would be for local bands and artists, but I don't think anybody could have predicted just how successful it has been.
