New Mills Art Theatre is putting on a showstopping performance of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves next month.
A folk tale from the Arabian Nights is a unique choice, and the cast can’t wait to show audiences what a fantastic panto it is. Issac Fletcher-Shaw plays Ali Baba, a young wood cutter who saves the day along with his loyal and clever friend and heroine of the story, Marjana, played by Jazz Lomas.
There’s also Bashim and Grabbit, a couple of bumbling dafties, the beautiful Princess Jasmine and Crown Prince Haroun, and the show's villain, Asbad. Alsatia and Caterina, the bad and good immortal spirits, battle it out from the beginning to the end of the story. All through the show, a strong company of singers and dancers perform songs we all know.
This is a pantomime for all ages, with shows running on February 2, 3, 4, 9 and 10. The evening shows begin at 7.15pm, and there are matinee performances starting at 2.15pm on Saturday 3, Sunday 4 and Saturday 10 February.
