Pantomime is the best cure for winter blues and the cast of Sleeping Beauty is ready to banish those blues when they launch a cracking opening night at New Mills Art Theatre on 3 February.
Sleeping Beauty is a classic fairy tale given the panto makeover. The King and Queen have a lovely daughter in Princess Rose, that’s wonderful!
Unfortunately, the trouble seems to start with the Christening – somebody very wicked doesn’t get an invite... whoops! Good and evil magic do battle in the form of good fairies and a bad witch, but there’s lots of dancing, singing, a UV scene plus slapstick comedy from a muddled Muddles, and two hopeless palace messengers – you just can’t get the staff!
Leading the laughter mongers is Nurse Dottie Dettol, who may have her own ‘alternative’ remedies, but she will be sure to wallop the medicine of laughter right over the footlights in true panto Dame style for everyone to enjoy.
For over 40 years, New Mills Art Theatre has been home to many award-winning traditional pantomimes. So, come to the show with all the family and let the Sleeping Beauty cast bring you the fun that only good pantomime can deliver.
