Glossop Bookfest is looking for bookworm volunteers or passionate authors and workshoppers to help make the second annual event the best yet.
The festival is planned for August (exact dates to be decided) but organisers need three or four more volunteers to make it a success.
The venue will be close to Glossop’s town centre, with plans to have stalls at which local authors can offer their books for sale, workshops on aspects of writing, and activities for children.
Organiser, illustrator and author of children’s book series ‘Captain Cuthbert and Scat the Cat’ Nicola Worswick said: “Our volunteers will be asked to direct authors and visitors to the right rooms and to help with providing refreshments.
“There will be small charges for each exhibitor (provisionally £5) and for the workshops (provisionally £2 each) - this money will help to pay for the venue, the refreshments and the advertising and promotion.
“An evening open mic session at which authors can share excerpts from their work will be free of charge.”
Anyone interested in volunteering or in contributing as an author or workshop tutor should contact Nicola (CaptainCuthbertandScattheCat@hotmail.com) or Mark (mark@markphenderson.com) before March 31.
