His daughter Denise said in a Facebook post that he was ‘taken extremely poorly’ in an upstairs room, and as paramedics couldn’t help him downstairs, they had to evacuate him through a bedroom window.
It is suspected the man suffered a heart attack.
The emergency service response included an air ambulance landing in a field at Tara Brook Farm opposite the house on Woolley Lane.
Traffic tailed back up to Hadfield in one direction, while the A628 through Hollingworth was congested as far as Tintwistle.
Public transport was affected, too, with the 237 bus from Ashton unable to access Glossop for a time and instead terminating in Stalybridge.
“Frankly, the dedication of the emergency services who were determined to care for my dad was hugely humbling and we are filled with profound gratitude,” Denise posted. “My sister Andrea Brammer and myself can never thank them enough.
“You would never know that a window and door were taken off the building. They were placedback leaving no mess or hint of disturbance.”
The man was taken to hospital where he is ‘doing fine’ and will be fitted with a pacemaker this morning.
