Buxton Opera House & Pavilion Arts Centre are pleased to be welcoming legends of the sporting world to its stage, who will be in conversation throughout 2025 providing insights and inspiration from their careers.
Notable stars include England’s “hat trick hero” Sir Geoff Hurst, appearing at the Opera House in January for the first time as part of his farewell UK tour, ‘Last Man Standing’.
Sir Geoff will be joined by his long-time friend and agent Terry Baker to reminisce on his illustrious West Ham and England footballing career, which will include his personal insights of his experience winning the World Cup with England in 1966 and now being the only living player of the triumphant team. In this unique experience with a living legend, fans will be able to put all of their burning questions to Sir Geoff in the second half of the show, and will get the opportunity to take photographs with the World Cup winner as well as collect priceless autographs and football memorabilia when they upgrade to the limited VIP tickets.
In February, world-record holder Sean Conway will take to the stage at the Pavilion Arts Centre for his show ‘Endurance’. From starting out as a school portrait photographer, Sean decided to push himself to the limit and achieve remarkable ultra-endurance records, such as 105 Iron Man competitions in 105 days, partaking in a 4200-mile continuous triathlon, becoming the fastest unsupported cyclist across Europe, and becoming the first to swim the length of Britain.
March sees Sky Sports and broadcasting legend Jeff Stelling visit Buxton, in conversation with Bianca Westwood for an evening of football nostalgia, fun and entertainment. The former anchorman of Sky Sports Gillette Soccer Saturday for over 30 years, Jeff is stopping by at Buxton Opera House for the second stint of his best-selling tour in 2025 to share anecdotes from his amazing career in broadcasting, and will share stories on how he rubbed shoulders with some of the most legendary football stars of our time.
Also visiting Buxton Opera House for the first time in the Summer will be Formula 1 legend Guenther Steiner. The former Haas F1 team principal best known for his no-nonsense approach embarks on his first ever tour, following the release of his latest book, Unfiltered, and his recent appearance on Netflix’s smash-hit documentary, Drive to Survive.
