'Anti-social behaviour won't be tolerated' - Police respond to spate of Gamesley incidents

Police are appealing for information amid a spate of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage incidents on the Gamesley estate.

Last Saturday evening (6 March) at around 11.30pm, there was an arson attack on Combs Terrace where a glass bottle, containing a rag, had been set on fire and thrown at the window of a house. Nobody was injured. The officer in the case is DS Nicola Bateman and the reference number is 21*129640.

On Monday (8 March) at around 5pm, a pram carrying a child was hit with the handle of a push scooter on Winster Mews where a group of youths were involved. Thankfully the child in the pram was not hurt. The incident number is 21000132656.

Police say they are "deeply concerned" and working to identify those responsible, adding that "this behaviour will not be tolerated in our community".

Officers have been carrying out patrols in the area to reassure the community.

"From speaking to a number of residents it has become apparent that these reports are only a fraction of the incidents occurring," Glossop Police Safer Neighbourhood Team said.

"We are therefore encouraging the community to please report any instances of anti-social behaviour or criminality."
