Art is on track at Glossop train station

Since opening in 2015 to local community art, the Waiting Room Gallery at Glossop train station has hosted more than 30 displays by local artists.

Organised by Friends of Glossop Station and supported by Northern, the diversity of art work has shown the huge range of artistic talent in the Glossop area.

Many artists have commented that they receive feedback from passengers using the station, some from far afield.

FOGS chairman Neil Williams said: “We have been proud to offer the waiting room as a display area and we have received favourable comments about its use when being judged in Community Rail competitions. The booking diary is now open for 2021.

“We welcome enquiries from local artists and photographers interested in creating a display.

“There is no charge for displaying work and FOGS will help with the putting up (and taking down) of displays. At the discretion of Northern, work may be offered for sale.”

Artists interested in displaying their work should contact John Kimpton of FOGS on 01457 859128.
