A High Peak man has been given a suspended jail sentence by magistrates after leaving another man with a chipped tooth following an assault.
Gary Bennett, 45, of Milton Lane, Whaley Bridge, pleaded guilty to the assault relating to an incident on 15 October last year in the town.
Charged with causing actual bodily harm, he was given an 18 weeks jail term when he appeared at Stockport Magistrates’ Court, suspended for 12 months.
Magistrates said the assault had been serious, also leaving the victim with some psychological trauma.
Bennett was ordered to pay out £250 compensation, £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £128.
He was also given a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, meaning he must attend appointments as required by an officer.
