Attempted bike thefts in Hayfield

Police are appealing for information about attempted bike thefts in the Hayfield area.

Glossop Police Safer Neighbourhood Team say they received reports of two suspicious men on Valley Road at around 9.15pm on Sunday 14 March.

They had been disturbed after being seen shining a torch into a property. The men ran off and are believed to have headed to the park area between Valley Road and Kinder Road.

Then, at around 10.10pm on the same evening, a resident on Glossop Road was disturbed by a loud bang which turned out to be their garage door being forced.

A man in dark clothing was witnessed walking off across the A624 and then down the grass bank onto Swallow House Lane and out of sight.

It is believed these men were trying to steal pedal cycles.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to get in touch with police by calling 101 or reporting it online at https://www.derbyshire.police.uk/contactus, quoting occurrence reference numbers 21000145201 and 21000144563 and the officer in the case PC 2757 Hodnett.

We reported last week that two high-value mountain bikes were stolen during two burglaries at different properties in Chapel-en-le-Frith. They happened sometime overnight between Saturday 6 March and Sunday 7 March.
