Award-winning writers present Pavilion Gardens as you've never seen them before

The Pavilion Gardens in Buxton.

Chapel Arts Creative Writing Group is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Buxton's Pavilion Gardens with 'The Secret Gardens', a collection of unusual stories, prose and poems performed online as part of Buxton Fringe from 7 July.

Poignant love stories, ghostly goings-on, magical fantasies and curious histories all feature alongside nostalgic eye-witness tales of Beatlemania and the further adventures of favourite Chapel Arts characters Fred, Doris and Ethel.

As well as being performed on free-to-view online videos featuring evocative music and images of the Gardens, all the pieces will be available as documents to be downloaded from the Chapel Arts website and savoured at leisure.

Based in Chapel-en-le-Frith, the writing group has been expanding of late and features a lively mixture of amateur, professional and semi-professional writers, journalists, and memoirists.

The group’s leader, Mark P. Henderson, said: “Working with the Chapel Arts creative writing group for the past few years has been a pleasure and a privilege.

“Our members are going from strength to strength, and several of their contributions to “The Secret Gardens” have really impressed me.”

For further information see the group’s Spoken Word listing on the Buxton Fringe website https://buxtonfringe.org.uk/descriptions2021.html#spok

Chapel Arts was formed to encourage the development of a broad range of arts in the Chapel-en-le-Frith area. Details are available on www.chapelarts.org.uk
