Two hikers were saved by Glossop Mountain Rescue Team after being caught out by the fast-fading light on Saturday night.
Four rescuers raced to the scene on Sykes Moor, part of Bleaklow, with another team of seven in reserve if they needed further assistance.
“Two walkers had found themselves benighted on Sykes Moor and needed help,” read a statement from the MRT. “Speaking to them we established they were uninjured, had warm clothes, and torches so asked them to sit right and look for lights to the west.
“A fast party of four set out from Glossop Low towards their location whilst a second party awaited deployment in case further specialist equipment was needed.
“Thankfully both casualties were in good spirits and able to walk off with the fast party.
“In all 13 team members were involved in the callout to help get the walkers off the hill safely and back to their families.”
Mountain Rescue Teams are funded entirely by donations, with the Glossop volunteers covering the area around Bleaklow, Black Hill and Kinder.
