Local members of High Peak Stand Up to Racism say they have been delighted with the response so far to their new campaign 'High Peak Welcomes Diversity'.
After the launch just two weeks ago, which was supported by a video message from actress Julie Hesmondhalgh, group members have visited over 100 shops, hairdressers, pubs and cafes in Glossop, Hadfield, Hayfield, New Mills and Chapel-en-le-Frith.
The group's chairperson Gwyneth Francis said: "The vast majority of businesses have been happy to take a sticker for their window and a statement to put up inside, about their commitment to welcoming Diversity and Inclusion."
Damien Greenhalgh, deputy leader of High Peak Borough Council, commented: "The Council welcomes diversity and seeks to ensure that our Borough is as inclusive a place as possible for people to live, visit and learn in.
"I am therefore delighted that we are supporting this local community initiative and I encourage local businesses to sign up and share the campaign's sticker on their windows and doors."
