PC Geoff Marshall has been selected as one of the baton carriers when as part of preparations for 2022 Commonwealth Game the Queen’s Baton Relay visits Buxton later today (11 July).
He was nominated to take part to recognition of his work as part of the emergency team at Toddbrook Reservoir in Whaley Bridge in 2019, when it was feared the dam would collapse.
The Queen's Baton Relay convoy will arrive at the Pavilion Gardens at around 6.20pm where seven Batonbearers will take the Baton on a journey around the Gardens.
Though the route itself will be taped off, visitors can stand anywhere else in the Gardens to watch.
The event will culminate with speeches and musical entertainment from Buxton International Festival at the Bandstand at around 6.40pm.
The Queen’s Baton Relay is travelling the length and breadth of England for a total of 29 days, before the Opening Ceremony for Birmingham 2022 on 28 July.
