Cake, bakes and music at Glossop church

Dark Peak Music is moving into Glossop Parish Church on Sunday for a concert with a difference.

As well as making music at rehearsals, the young players have been baking cakes at home.

It’s for the Great Dark Peak Bake-Off which will be judged during the interval.

Dark Peak Music founder Jeff Snowden said: “There will be prizes for the best cake in the junior and senior categories.

“But we are having a problem selecting judges...everyone wants to do it  and take part in the competition.”

The INSPIRE Concert ‘French Impressions’ starts at 4.30pm and is expected to end at about 6.15pm.

There will be piece from the Trois Pieces Breves by Jacques Ibert and music by Debussy, Saint-Saens and Francis Poulenc.

Dark Peak Music will be joined by Rosa Campos-Fernandez from the Hallé Orchestra and acclaimed pianist Benjamin Powell.

Tickets are available either on the door or at www.ticketsource.co.uk/darkpeakmusicfoundation.

They cost £10/£3 children with a  family ticket £20 (up to two adults and two children).
