Car washes raise vital funds for Ukraine appeal

Firefighters at Whaley Bridge station washing cars for a good cause.

High Peak firefighters have helped raised hundreds of pounds for the British Red Cross Ukrainian Appeal.

Plenty of car owners took the opportunity to get their vehicles washed and support the fundraising efforts at events held over the weekend.

At New Mills Station, £460 was raised and at Whaley Bridge the figure was around £400.

Fire crews in Buxton were also involved and held their car wash at Morrisons supermarket, raising £526.72 in total.

The county-wide initiative saw crews from nine fire stations involved in total.
