Visitors can help care for the Peak District National Park by looking out for litter as they enjoy the stunning landscapes.
Special picking kits can now be borrowed from visitor centres at Castleton and Bakewell on a free day hire basis.
The kits contain a picking guide, bags, a hi-vis jacket and a litter picker.
They have been funded by the Peak District National Park Authority, Peak District National Park Foundation and the British Mountaineering Council.
The initiative is part of the Peak District Proud Ambassador scheme to encourage more people to appreciate and care for the national park.
Volunteer co-ordinator Rachel Mora-Bannon said: “The Peak District National Park is a fantastic landscape enjoyed by many, so much so that many people are keen to help in practical ways.
“So, we’ve been thinking of things people can do.
“Alongside welcoming people back to the Peak District after the challenges of Covid-19, we want to help everyone to understand and respect our national park.
“We know that many local people are already picking up litter and monitoring issues as they happen – and, of course, we urge people not to leave their litter behind in the first place.
“But we hope that our new initiative will encourage a fresh and positive attitude among our visitors and help to create a new and growing team of Peak District Proud Ambassadors.
“Please help us to look after this beautiful area and support those who live and work in the Peak District by keeping it tidy.”
