Carnival royalty needed

Organisers of the Charlesworth and Chisworth Carnival are inviting young people living in the two areas to be their carnival royalty.

This year's carnival is taking place on Charlesworth Village Green (pictured) on Saturday, July 11.

The parade will set off from outside St Margaret's School in Gamesley at 12.30pm and arrive at the village green at around 1pm. The crowning of the carnival queen will take place at 2pm before the senior fell race starts at 2.30pm and the junior version an hour later. There will be a prize giving for the fell race, scarecrows, floats and fancy dress at 4.30pm.

As far as the carnival royalty goes, there will be the chance of having a carnival king, prince or crown bearer - so entries are open to both boys and girls.

The closing date for applications is Friday, April 3.
