A caravan park has been given permission to open all year round, despite objections from nearby residents.
Locals say there will be more traffic along the isolated access road to Charlesworth Lodges – on the eastern edge of Charlesworth village – while the removal of the annual one-month break will lend a more ‘permanent residential feel to the site’.
People can’t live permanently on holiday parks, with residents concerned the removal of restrictions will make that ‘virtually impossible’ to enforce.
However, in a report granting approval for the plans, High Peak planning officer James Stannard said: “Additional wording should be included to make clear that no person can occupy the site for more than 28 consecutive days and (crucially) up to a maximum of 28 days in any calendar year.
“This would essentially allow a guest or any one party to stay for a 4-week continuous stay, or as an equivalent, two 2 x week stays, or four 1 x stays in any calendar year.”
The site, which has eight lodge-style static caravans, opened in 2003.
