After two years away, Hayfield is getting ready for the very welcome return of the annual May Queen Festival this weekend.
Organisers are hoping everyone will join in by decorating the village, taking inspiration from the chosen theme for this year’s Festival - the Seaside.
A week of events start with the procession on Saturday 14 May, starting from the bus station at 1.30pm and going through the village and onto The Old School Field off Swallow House Lane.
There will be stalls and entertainment on the field, entry by donation, and the crowning of 2022 royalty.
Cubbins Fun Fair will be there from Thursday 12 to Sunday 15 May.
The committee would like to invite any previous Hayfield royalty to take part in the parade along with visiting royalty from the surrounding areas.
On Sunday 15th, a music and food festival featuring Stella vision, Eric & the Frantics and Nothing Like Pressure will take place on the May Queen Field from 1pm to 6pm. Entry via donation.
A Pet Show is taking place on Wednesday 18th, 50p per entry, followed on Friday 20th by a Kids Disco at Hayfield Conservative Club and the Hayfield May Queen Fell Race.
The final event is a Fun Quiz on Sunday 22nd at the George Hotel at 8pm.
For booking in for parade and further information, contact Carol by emailing hmqsecretary@gmail.com. Visiting royalty are asked to book by 24 April.
