Covid-19 cases rise in the High Peak

Recent figures show the number of Covid-19 cases in the High Peak have seen a further rise of 20.7 per cent. 

According to Public Health England data, the rate rose from 458.8 to 554.9 cases per 100,000 people for the seven days up to 28 September.  

The figure across Derbyshire rose by 23.8 per cent to 468 cases per 100,000 people.  

Across the High Peak Borough Council area, there were 514 cases of Covid, a rise of 88, while across the county cases rose by 726 to 3,778. 

In neighbouring Tameside, the figures for the same period have seen a slight rise to 479.9 cases per 100,000 with 1,090 cases, a rise of 74, or 7.3 per cent. 

The vaccine roll-out is continuing although figures are not currently available as work is carried out to see how they can include data for 12-15 year old who are now able to be vaccinated.
