Craft creations and vintage finds at Victoria Hall

It’s set to be a busy weekend for crafters and vintage-lovers alike at Victoria Hall, which is hosting their first of hopefully many Seasonal Craft Fairs.

Friends of Victoria Hall are working together with the Victoria Arts Centre team and High Peak Borough Council to make Victoria Hall a multi-use venue for the community -  hosting everything from classical concerts to art exhibitions to community events and charitable fundraisers. Friends of Victoria Hall are raising money for restoration of the Hall and for developing its potential for community uses.

For Saturday’s fair, the group were asked if they could hold a fair aimed at people who are raising money for charitable causes or sellers who would not usually be able to access or afford a stall from 10am ‘til 2pm on Saturday the 16th November.

There will be a mixture of goods and sellers including a young boy making and selling keyrings raising money for a Manchester Hospital, Glossop Furniture Project and Glossop Heritage Trust and Glossop Arts Project all with stalls selling everything from handmade cards to calendars to upcycled furniture, bird boxes, bug feeders and many more.

Sonja Quirk, FOVH organiser said “We have focussed on charity and small sellers as there are many opportunities for commercial sellers at other events. We wanted to try to ensure people made as much money for their charities/causes as possible so have kept the stall cost to just £5 – it can be sole destroying to stand there all day only to pay a large percentage of the takings in stall fees. Stalls were all sold out within a week which is fantastic.”

On Sunday 17 November there will also be a Vintage Fair selling pre-loved clothes and jewellery, vintage household items and furniture. There is will also be a mixture of small and larger items on sale including mid-century items and a stall with glassware and ceramics.

FOVH will also be running a raffle with lots of fantastic prizes and providing refreshments including tea, coffee and mulled wine and mince pies. All money raised this weekend will go back into the Friends group and Victoria Hall.
