David Wood Domestic Appliances is celebrating 40 years of trading in Glossop this month.
The family-run independent electrical retailer opened back in October 1982, in the same premises on High Street West – initially, they were only situated at number 74 but extended into number 72 as well in the 1990s.
Chris Wood, who has been based in the shop since 1998, said: “We pride ourselves in giving the best choice in the area so hopefully people will see what we do. We’re really proud, it’s certainly quite a milestone to reach.”
The shop specialises in replacing a variety of home appliances, from washing machines and dishwashers to cookers and fridge-freezers.
Their most popular products, with the current climate at the moment, are the most energy efficient ones – including heat pump driers, air fryers and energy efficient washing machines.
