Davis Blank Furniss quiz raises £300 for The Bureau in Glossop

Local law firm Davis Blank Furniss has raised £300 for The Bureau at its very first quiz which took place at Cask & Kitchen.

Over 30 people attended, plus representatives from Davis Blank Furniss and The Bureau, with 10 teams competing. The winners were Team Quizzy McQuizface; Team Tequila Mockingbird was second ,which was captained by local Councillor Damien Greenhalgh; followed by Team No Clue Crew who came in third. The Best Team Name Category went to Cask and Question. Topics included general knowledge, TV & film, music, science and nature & Glossop.

The Bureau was established in 1979 and works with the belief that all members of the community will have both support needs of their own and the capacity to support others at various times in their lives – in some cases simultaneously. Its goal is to create solutions through effective volunteer action and collaboration.  It now offers a variety of services including practical and social support, volunteering, economic wellbeing, infrastructure support and partnerships which includes working with local groups, the public sector and regional/national bodies to build strong and innovative volunteer communities.

Kirsty Morbey, partner at Davis Blank Furniss, said: “As a business, we are passionate about supporting local causes so joining forces with The Bureau for the quiz has been fantastic. It delivers vital services to the local community so raising £300 to help them was the icing on the cake. As ever, the people of Glossop showed their generosity and demonstrated why giving back is at the very heart of the town.”

Lauren Moore, operations manager at The Bureau, added: “Everyone at The Bureau would like to thank Davis Blank Furniss for putting on such as great night and for the quizzers who came along and gave so generously. The donation will directly help us to support people across our community.”
