Unqualified teachers in Derbyshire are to be given a pay award of £250 to cover the cost of living increase.
Conditions of the School Teachers’ Pay Award were stipulated in the Department of Education’s 2021 School Teachers Pay and Conditions document and given the green light by members of Derbyshire County Council’s appointments and conditions of service committee.
Speaking at the committee meeting, senior HR business partner Ian Stonehouse said: “The cost of living increase was offered to members of staff who earn below £24,000, and they get £250.”
The increase will be awarded to teachers employed by the council and not attached to schools, and will be back dated until September 1 this year.
The committee also gave the go ahead for June 6 next year to be declared a non-working day for teachers employed by the authority in light of the Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
