Dog friendly places across Glossop

When you're out walking your dog in Glossop, do you wish you knew which places are dog friendly and which aren't?

Well, local dog trainer Nicola Davies is compiling a list so she can publish the information for local people and visitors to the area.

Nicola runs contented-caninestraining.com.

She said: “It’s an idea I’ve had for ages. Now I just want to compile all the information so people can be aware of which businesses and pubs are dog friendly.

“I also thought it would benefit the local shops as they have suffered a loss of business throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. I feel this information would lead to less car journeys.

“If you can take your dog for a walk and then do your shopping straight after it’s to everyone’s advantage,” she added.

“It’s something I’ve recommended at my training classes for years as it helps to socialise a puppy taking them to places where there are lots of people and maybe other dogs around.”

DOG FRIENDLY PLACES: Nicola Davies is compiling a list of places where dogs are accepted.

Nicola has been surprised at some of the shops that are dog friendly.

She said: “It’s not always easy to tell which places accept dogs. I’m discovering new places all the time and I really think it’d be great to share this information.

“Plus if dog owners want to go into a shop it’s not safe to leave their pets tied up outside.

“In this day and age there are so many dog thefts taking place, it’s far safer to take your dog inside with you.”

Nicola now plans on compiling the information and contacting Tourist Information so they can stock her leaflets for local dog owners and people who visit the area with their dogs.
