A number of drivers were caught travelling over the speed limit on a busy road in Tintwistle on Saturday afternoon (15 April).

The Hadfield Community Speed Watch team were in position on the A628 Manchester Road between 2.45pm and 3.45pm to keep a close eye on drivers.

That stretch of road has a speed limit of 30 miles per hour.

A total of 1,168 vehicles went by the team during the 60-minute duration.

Of these, 25 were recorded driving at a speed in excess of the speed limit.

Glossop Police Safer Neighbourhood Team said the registered keepers of the vehicles will receive a letter of advice about their speeding.

They also said a massive thank you to the two volunteers from the speed watch team for carrying out the event.

"We ask as always that those who drive in our area respect the speed limit - slow down and stay safe," added a Glossop Police SNT spokesperson.
