Drivers' speed monitored in Hadfield

The speed of drivers along a main road in Hadfield was closely monitored on Wednesday afternoon.

Three volunteers from the Hadfield Community Speed Watch Team were on Park Road between 3pm and 4pm.

The speed limit on the road is 30 miles per hour.

Whilst they were there, 407 vehicles went past in both directions and only one was caught driving in excess of 36 miles per hour.

The owner of the vehicle will receive a letter of advice about their speeding, police have said.

Hadfield Police's Safer Neighbourhood Team said: "A great big thank you to the three volunteers who completed the event - once again, who without, their help this event could not have been completed.

"We ask all those who drive in our area to respect the speed limit - slow down and stay safe.

"Remember, Speed Watch is a community-based, education-centred scheme that helps ordinary people make a significant contribution to improving the safety of our roads."
