Only two in more than 500 vehicles were caught driving at high speed during the latest 'speed watch' in Little Hayfield.
Two new volunteers joined the Hayfield Community Speed Watch Team as they spent an hour on Wednesday afternoon (23 June) keeping a watchful eye on vehicles travelling along the A624 Glossop Road, close to the Lantern Pike pub.
The speed limit on the road is 30 miles per hour.
Between 2pm and 3pm, some 522 vehicles passed the team in both directions but only two were recorded driving at a speed in excess of 36mph.
Glossop Police Safer Neighbourhood Team say the owners and registered keepers of those vehicles will receive letters of advice about their speeding.
They added: "There is a significant difference between 'accidental speeders' and 'habitual speeders'.
"Speed Watch is also about identifying the offenders who are sometimes beyond education."
