A group of teenage boys have been arrested after police followed a car which had allegedly been used in the theft of fuel in Buxton.
Staff at a petrol station on Leek Road in the town called officers just after 1am on Sunday morning (16 May) to report that a Ford Focus had left the forecourt but the driver had allegedly not paid for the fuel.
Patrolling officers from Derbyshire's Roads Policing Unit saw the car being driven along the A6 in Matlock Bath and followed it.
The Focus was stopped in Idridgehay and found to have no insurance.
A local officer with a drone was deployed to help in the search for people from the car, while a stinger was also used to stop the vehicle, which crashed into a hedge.
Three teens, two aged 17 and one aged 16, were arrested on suspicion of theft. The two 17-year-olds were also arrested on suspicion of possessing cannabis.
Police say they have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
A fourth boy, aged 16, later visited a police station for a voluntary interview.
