Duke of Edinburgh teen stretchered from Peak District hillside

On Wednesday 13 September, two local rescue teams attended an incident involving a casualty at Laddow Rocks in Greenfield.

A young female had suffered a fainting episode while out on her Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition.

With the Glossop Mountain Rescue Team having medically assessed her and commenced the stretcher carry, the Oldham (OMRT) team rendezvoused with them to help out on the 'boggy' route to Chew Reservoir.

From there, she was checked over by the Team Doctor before being handed over to the group leader for onward transport.

Rob Tortoishell, OMRT leader, said: "Well done to the DofE group, who did all the right things when asking for assistance, and best wishes to the casualty - who we hope can complete her Award when she is able."
