An Easter Egg Hunt at a Glossop park was so popular that it led to a complaint being made to police about an illegal gathering.
The report made to police stated that there were over 100 people at the event at Whitfield Rec on Good Friday and raised concerns that people were not wearing masks or social distancing.
A police spokeswoman said a complaint was received on Friday evening and the event had taken place much earlier in the day.
“We have spoken to the organisers and they have said they hadn’t been expecting that many people to turn up.”
She said the organisers had been given words of advice by officers.
Graham Oakley, from the People of Whitfield community group, said it was not an event that had been planned by the committee.
He said it was organised by two or three residents but after information was shared online a lot more people turned up than expected.
“It was not an event that was planned by us,” he said.
“I went down there for a while and there weren’t that many more people there. There were lots of families and children enjoying themselves.
“I saw masses of kids playing on our new playground enjoying a sunny day.”
